EMG

As part of your clinical neuromuscular exam, you may receive an Electromyography (EMG) study. An EMG provides helpful information in evaluating the function of your nerves and muscles. For problems where weakness, loss of muscle tone, pain, numbness, and tingling are present, the EMG can give your physician important information for making your diagnosis and treatment plan.

EMGs are commonly performed for
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Ulnar Palsy
  • Footdrop Limb pain
  • Low back pain

Neurological disorders such as:
  • Polyneuropathy
  • Myopathy
  • Radiculopathy
  • Myasthenia Gravis
  • Motor Neuron Disease

Narrow, sterile electrodes are used to investigate how well nerves and muscles are working. Your doctor will let you know if EMG services will be part of your evaluation.
