When can I shower (get incision wet) after total hip replacement surgery?
Because we use a waterproof dressing over your incision, you’ll be able to shower immediately after your total hip replacement. The dressing will be changed daily, however there is no prohibition against showering. If you happen to get the incision wet, pat it dry with a towel, swab it with alcohol and put on a new dressing. We will send you home with a number of dressings so you can change them daily.
