The highly contagious Omicron variant is present in our community and driving local testing positivity rates above 40%, indicating an astronomically high incidence of community spread. According to the latest NGHS data, there has been a 54% increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations at its facilities in the past month, and more than 290% increase in the past month. Currently 70% of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and 77% of positive cases in critical care are unvaccinated. (As of Jan. 13, 2022; data updated daily). Breakthrough cases in vaccinated individuals are possible. However, the vaccines have been proven to protect against severe illness, hospitalization and death in most cases. According to the CDC, you are 10 times less likely to be hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications if you have been vaccinated.

If you are eligible and not yet vaccinated, we urge you to do so as possible whether you get your vaccine at Longstreet Clinic or someplace else. If you are fully vaccinated, please continue to follow the latest public health recommendations. Thank you for protecting yourself, your family members and the community.
