The highly contagious Delta variant is present in our community and driving local testing positivity rates above 20%, indicating an extremely high incidence of community spread. According to the latest NGHS data, there has been a 54% increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations at its facilities in the past month, and more than 2,000% increase in the past two months.  Currently 84% of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and 89% of positive cases in critical care are unvaccinated. (As of Sept. 13, 2021; data updated daily). Though breakthrough cases are considered extremely rare statistically, they are possible. However, the vaccines have been proven to protect against severe illness and death in most cases. According to the CDC, you are 10 times less likely to be hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications if you have been vaccinated. Studies have shown that hospitalizations among the vaccinated have a median age of 80.

If you are eligible and not yet vaccinated, we urge you to do so as possible whether you get your vaccine at Longstreet Clinic or someplace else. If you are fully vaccinated, please continue to follow the latest public health recommendations. Thank you for protecting yourself, your family members and the community.
